This interview of Jay-Z has been around the internet for some days now. After watching the video, I felt it was post-worthy. Jay doesn’t always show his charismatic/humorous side, so this was a little different. U.K. interview Jonathon Ross even asks him questions about Beyonce…you can check out Jay’s response to that.

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Jay-Z’s newer music or age, I respect him for all of his accomplishments. Plus, I still listen to a lot of his older music.

Trey and his love interest in the video explain the concept of the ‘Missing You’ video. ‘Missing You‘ continues off where the ‘Last Time‘ video ended where his girlfriend in the video catches him cheating. The song is hands-down my favorite track on this album, and this album was my favorite album of ‘07. It makes me proud to see good music being put out still.

I could’ve sworn I’ve already posted this track as Song of the Day. Obviously not, right? Anyway, Goapele and Dwele are both amazingly talented soul stars who don’t get half the attention they deserve and have names which rhyme.
Next Thursday, Goapele will be performing at the Apple store in San Francisco for the Black Music Month: Hometown Heroes. I’m hoping I can make it. It’s a dope concept and other artists involved in different cities includes/included Dwele, Janelle Monae, B.o.B.,
David Anthony, Vaughn Anthony (John Legend’s brother), Talib Kweli and more. For more info, check out Apple’s Black Music Month webpage.

When R&B groups Subway and 702 released their collaborated single ‘This Lil Game’ in 1994, I was automatically blown away. That was saaaaanging. They do not play, it’s so serious. Of course this track is still in regular rotation. Check out the video above.

On Tuesday morning, a growing fire which started near Stockton’s I-5 freeway lead to many homes being destroyed and damaged. At this time, there is no official known cause of the fire. This was reported to be Stockton’s biggest residential fire ever.
The fire destroyed 18 residences and damaged 20 others, causing an estimated $4 million to $5 million worth of damage. The human toll was light – two firefighters suffered minor injuries and returned to the line, while civilians suffered from nothing more than smoke inhalation.
I don’t really know what to say other than if you can in any way, try to help out. More info is available at Recordnet.com

At least that’s what I’ve been hearing for over a month now. Supposedly, last season of MTV’s America’s Best Dance Crew winners The Jabbawockeez will be performing at the Stockton Arena on June 13th. I haven’t heard or read anything official, (The Stockton Arena website does not mention Jabbawockeez anywhere) but I’ve been told our local radio stations are giving away free tickets. Let’s see. Hopefully I can get some photos somehow, ’cause I’m really not down to pay $45 just to see some dancing. I still think Kabba Modern should’ve won, although Jabbawockeez are pretty dope.
About a month ago, my homeboy lost his iPhone. He said he wasn’t trippin’ because the iPhone 2 was coming out and he’d buy that replacement once it dropped. I told him he was trippin’, because I stay on top of this electronics shit and I have NEVER heard of a damn iPhone 2. (Although I soon learned about the software update 2.0)
Today, I read about dun dun dun…

The iPhone 3G. “Twice as fast, half the price” is what Apple is claiming. What I have realized is that Apple likes to come up with amazing technology. They hype the shit out of their products. Then within a year or two, they produce an upgraded product, and often cheaper. This is fact with the constant iPod changes. I’m not hating because I understand this, hence why I did not purchase the first iPhone.
New features such as GPS (was GPS on the first iPhone?) and minor tweaks have been added. Simply because of the price drop and added features, I may pick up the iPhone 3G. I have to say I’m not absolutely sold on the product. A touch screen phone is not something I prefer, but it does help and makes copy and pasting much easier on a phone. I’ve heard that the iPhone doesn’t accept multimedia text messages either, which is a bit of a setback. Also, what I am still dissatisfied with most is the lack of a real, physical keyboard. Perhaps, it’s a signature how Apple has the touch screen keyboard. It makes things difficult, because as you can tell, I type a lot. Also, there is no stylus so users must tap the screen with their fingers which makes your phone look a HOT ASS MESS.
PROS of the iPhone 3G
- Newly priced at $199 (for an 8 Gig)
- 16 Gig comes in black or white phone
- App Store has new (and some free) products which users can create & debug
- iPhone can connect by 3G, EDGE network and Wi-Fi which makes loading faster
- GPS is now available on iPhone
- phone brightness automatically adjusts in sunshine or darkness
- proximity sensor immediately turns off display to prevent accidental touches
The new iPhone 3G comes out on July 11th.

The newest N.E.R.D. album, ‘Seeing Sounds‘ drops today! The first official single was ‘Everyone Nose’ which leaked on the internet late last year. There has been no second single yet, as the video drops just a month ago. I actually heard the album a few days ago and will have a review soon.
Yes, I’m aware other albums came out today. I only discuss the ones I’m interested in on my blog. =]

Not too long ago, my homeboy was telling me about this Japanese/white boy who sang folk/soul songs with an acoustic guitar. I was like “YEAH!,” cause I caught the same video on H.E.R. blog and saw the video on VH1 all on the same day. Justin Nozuka is the name and the song is ‘After Tonight‘. I’m big on R&B/soul (hence the name of the site) and since high school I have grown a liking to folk/indie rock. I was blown away when I heard the song, because there isn’t really anything similar out now. Also, the video is very chill. I dig it.
