There’s something about India.Arie that i love. Her music always seems to put me in a good mood, when I feel like shit. I honestly can’t say that about too many artist out now. She managed to turn ‘mourning’ good. This is ridiculous and I admire her for it. So, if you’re not feeling too great or are just in the mood for some true soul music, listen below.

So, it’s Monday night soon to be Tuesday. Here goes my weekend recap.
Friday 09/26/08:
First off, if y’all haven’t noticed already, I start my weekends on Fridays. Honestly, I don’t even remember what happened Friday. I’m thinking: woke up, did math, went to work, came home, blogged, end of day. Yeah, I’m exciting.
Saturday 09/27/08:
I worked in the morning, so I got off fairly early.. around 5ish I assume. We headed to Lollicup and Target. My boy Zack surprised me when she showed up with Peanut and Ouk there before we left (only because I didn’t know when he’d arrive.) Ended up sittin’ around waiting on people ALL night. I hate it when people take forever to get ready. People became indecisive of where we were eating for my niece Dany’s birthday and it was a hot ass mess. Ended up at Sho Mi’s and I swear the waitress was mean muggin BEFORE I even stepped into the restaurant. They told us if we arrived BEFORE 9, it was all good because they usually closed at that time. We arrived by 8:50. Yeah… Anyway, we all ended up going bowling as I posted in the pictures a few days ago. Had fun. Almost won. Kicked Zack’s ass quiet a few times. I love being around family… especially when there’s good energy.
Sunday 09/28/08:
I was crazy tired the following day. We didn’t leave the bowling alley til 2am. Went to work. Got off work early. Bought Dany a birthday cake. We sang (FAST.) We ate. We watched a little TV. Came home, MORE math, more blogs. Now, I KNOW next weekend will be MUCH more exciting. My energy has been feeling kinda low lately, I don’t like it. But if you didn’t know by now, my 21st is coming up this Saturday, October 4th. I’ll be in Stockton Friday night, so if you’ve got my number “don’t hesitate, holla at meeeeee” (Brandy, haha). Like Trey Songz (or Spongebob Squarepants), I’mmmmmm reeeeeaddy!

I know I just posted a new track from Trey last night, but that doesn’t mean he’s stopping anytime soon! This time, Trey takes on Jazmine Sullivan’s ‘Bust Your Windows’. I enjoyed Jazmine’s track but love what Trey did to the track. His energy is different in a way that I appreciate. Plus, he is DOPE with the harmonies.

I’m a big Toni Braxton fan, although I love most of what she’s done in the ’90s and early 2000s. Lately, she’s been in current rotation and I had to do it! I dig this track because at the time, it was something different and fresh for her. It’s always amazing when Toni and Babyface does a track together. Her dramatic delivery and vocals are the shit to me. Nowadays, Toni is killin’ em on ‘Dancing With The Stars’even after learning she has cancer. Regardless of her over-the-top sexual music videos and outfits, I applaud Toni Braxton for consisently raising the bar for herself.

Trey is NOT playin and is just getting started. This week, Trey puts his own interpretation on Luda’s “What Them Girls Like” which he recorded with Chris Brown and Sean Garret and produced by one of my favorites, Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins. I’m still kinda confused as to why they had two male R&B “singers” on the track, but that’s irrelevent. The beat is pretty dope, in a very chill way. In Trey fashion, he attacks the track with his strongfully sexual & explicit lyrics, but also explains he knows it’s not all about sex.
“If you treat her good like a real man should, you ain’t gotta worry about me giving her wood…”
“You want your mind stimulated and your mental fed, a man that listens to what your mental says.”
Haha, dude is crazy. Still waiting on that ‘Ready’ album as well as a video for ‘In Your Phone’.

This song has got to be one of my favorite songs–ever. Musiq re-assures his woman of his appreciation and undying love towards her on his song ‘Dontchange’. I think everyone can relate to this song whether these words are ever spoken or not. The video fits the song beautifully as well. So for anyone who may be mad that Musiq’s current single, “Radio” has a huge lack of soul or just a person in need of REAL music, press the play button below.

Friday 09/19/08:
Wow… just, wow. I had Friday off, so I had a few things to do. I was suppose to go driving and shopping for shit for my birthday. FAILED. I sat around all day, watched TV, read blogs. Didn’t even bother trying to go out because I had to be at work at 9am on Saturday morning. Worst Friday ever. Just whack.
Saturday:
Got off work at 5:30. My friend Phalary invited me to go see the Hieroglyphics with Tanya Morgan and more at the skate park in Sacramento but I knew I’d be too drained and exhausted from my lack of sleep and work. I ended up going shopping with my family later on in the evening. Came home and watched ‘Baby Mama’ was my family. Pretty funny movie. Not fucking hilarious, but pretty funny. Angie came thru and failed at fixing our issue with the TV and Xbox 360, so we weren’t able to play Rock Band (at 2am). I searched for cameras online and failed. Went to sleep by 4am.
Sunday:
I got to work a little early today, just before noon. My sister hit me up about going to San Jose to pick up Jil and perhaps go shopping. I asked to leave work early because it was crazy slow. Approved. So, I bounced. Arrived in 408 at approximately 4:45PM. Picked up Jil, visited Zack. We talked about my birthday and chill then headed to Oakridge. Shopped. Ate. Wild out to T.I.’s new album in the ride. Once we got to Zack’s crib, we looked up clubs and bars we would hit up for my birthday. Some interesting stuff we shall find out about. It’s 2AM and I’m still on my camera hint. Yo, I am determined! So, I’m out!
