The new iPhone 3g S will be released on June 19th at the price of $199 for a 16 gig or $299 for a 32 gig. Too bad, current 3G users can’t upgrade until December. OR you can pay an “early upgrade fee” of the low-low price of $399. I’m glad they decided to add video without us having to hack our iPhones, added copy and paste as well as multi-media messages. They also added voice control, which is a cool feature. Doubt they fixed the bluetooth though. I may have to sit this one out. Apple is doing an annually update and I can’t afford to buy a new phone every year. Check out the video below for more details.

Although I thought I was growing to love my iPhone 3G, lately I’ve been feeling it’s been very disappointing. I am starting to notice more than ever that my calls are constantly being dropped! I know people have complained about it in the past with the original iPhone and nothing has changed. I’ve also tried to ignore the fact that Safari CONSTANTLY shuts down my internet browser as I am about to press ’submit.’ Just yesterday, I tried to pay a bill (which would be late today) online on my iPhone. Browser kept shutting down be fore I could enter my account number! So, I decided to call and pay instead. My call got dropped three times right as I would once again enter my account number.
Today, while browsing Complex’s blog I was reacquainted with a phone I first spotted on Marcus Troy’s blog and tried my hardest to ignore. My phone is a daily accessory– to contact people, keep in touch with family, recieve/send e-mail, blog, browse the web, pay bills, my calendar, even shop and of course listen to music. I have high standards and have minimum requirements for my phones (I’m not playin’.) I need 3G, bluetooth, e-mail, mp3 player & ringtones, multi-media messages, a camera, full internet browser and some free games would be nice. I felt with the iPhone 3G, I’ve settled for less because the iPhone obviously does not offer all of those featuers. Although I’ve grown to love Apple’s free apps, I am beginning to think Sony Ericsson’s X1 will kick the iPhones ass. Continue reading for my breakdown.

So the last time I posted, I wrote about my frustration with the iPhone 3G especially with getting it properly activated. What’s ironic is that IMMEDIATELY after posting the angry blog post, I managed to get my iPhone to work. The first few days were filled with much confusion. The screen dims when you talk on the phone whcih lead to difficult manually hanging up. Now, I often use the headphones while in a conversation so if I avoid holding the phone vertically the phone’s buttons lights up allowing all normal functions.
I am using a gel case with a sticker for the front screen, along with a leather hip case. After much time, I’ve gotten the hang of the phone and the lack of common cell phone features such as bluetooth and multi-media messages do not bother me.
I’ve downloaded many free applications and games from Apple’s App Store. It was surprising to see how impressive certain apps were since they were free.
With ringtones, I had to purchase the original song but get to customize my own ringtone which was another .99 cents. Overall, both the song and ringtone combined cost $1.99 which was not a problem since most ringtones cost $2.49+ and you get to chose which specific part of a song you want as the ringtone with fading in and out options.
I’m growing to really like this phone.
This morning, I had about two hours of sleep. Around 6:30AM I headed to the AT&T store to stand in line for the new iPhone 3G. I’ve said plenty times I do not LOVE the phone, but perhaps I will grow to appreciate it’s feature and what it has to offer. It took me some time, but I loved my BlackJack II before I lost it. Also, I dig Apple products.
Anyway, by 9:15AM I am finally let in. All of the cases and accessories for the phone were ugly and overpriced, so I decided to pass on that. Bluetooth headsets were crazy expensive as well. Aside from the server delays, I was pretty much in and out.
I arrive at home around 10AM and am confused by the lack of a ‘Getting Started’ guide which most electronics come with. I am not a retard and I can figure shit out on my own, but it’s best to know what to and what to avoid. So, I plug in the USB into my laptop and…nothing. iTunes says it cannot connect to the store page, therefore meaning I cannot activate my phone!
I restart my computer, no wuk. I tried my desktop PC, no wuk. I called AT&T (fuck that, I’m not finna sit here getting aggravated when it’s unlikely something I’m doing wrong) and the representative told me that because the iPhone 3G was released in many regions today, and the East Coast is 3 hours ahead of California, there is a huge delay because everyone is trying to activate their phones all at once. That was the same excuse for the delay when I purchased the phone which is all understandable.
My issue is htat I sit here 2 hours later with an unactivated iPhone. It’s fucking frustrated but I suppose I shall get over it. I’m just pissed that I barely got sleep and still haven’t had breakfast (it is not noon.) I will leave it alone for now and once I get the shit working, I will explain the pros and cons of the iPhone 3G.
If you are interested in purchasing an iPhone 3G or would just like to learn some more info, I suggest watching the Guided Tour video HERE. The video is about 30 minutes long and covers most important information about the new phone. I have to be at work in about 5 hours and I barely stayed awake through that video, but I did gain some insight. The new iPhone 3G come outs June 11th. And I’m out.
About a month ago, my homeboy lost his iPhone. He said he wasn’t trippin’ because the iPhone 2 was coming out and he’d buy that replacement once it dropped. I told him he was trippin’, because I stay on top of this electronics shit and I have NEVER heard of a damn iPhone 2. (Although I soon learned about the software update 2.0)
Today, I read about dun dun dun…

The iPhone 3G. “Twice as fast, half the price” is what Apple is claiming. What I have realized is that Apple likes to come up with amazing technology. They hype the shit out of their products. Then within a year or two, they produce an upgraded product, and often cheaper. This is fact with the constant iPod changes. I’m not hating because I understand this, hence why I did not purchase the first iPhone.
New features such as GPS (was GPS on the first iPhone?) and minor tweaks have been added. Simply because of the price drop and added features, I may pick up the iPhone 3G. I have to say I’m not absolutely sold on the product. A touch screen phone is not something I prefer, but it does help and makes copy and pasting much easier on a phone. I’ve heard that the iPhone doesn’t accept multimedia text messages either, which is a bit of a setback. Also, what I am still dissatisfied with most is the lack of a real, physical keyboard. Perhaps, it’s a signature how Apple has the touch screen keyboard. It makes things difficult, because as you can tell, I type a lot. Also, there is no stylus so users must tap the screen with their fingers which makes your phone look a HOT ASS MESS.
