So, I haven’t updated in a very long time. I have very good explanation for that! First of all, I no longer have internet so I have to make time to go somewhere with wifi to post. But during the time I haven’t posted, I’ve been very busy! First of all, I made it to 22 years old. Awesome, right? My family and I offically own a house now. Lastly, I am now blogging at www.themashup.net as well. PLEASE go check out the site, because I’ve been posting there much more often lately than here. I will give out a more vivid explaination in a video blog soon, but for now I’ll leave you with a flyer for our blog launch party in Sacramento this Sunday. The next stop is the Eastsiiiiide Moteeeeel. Today, the taping for VH1’s Hip Hop Honor was held with  performances such as Jay-Z/Kanye West tributes by Fabolous & Wale and much more. Trey Songz also performed Nate Dogg’s part with Warren G during “Regulate” which I found very interesting. I’m interested to see how it all went down.

P.S. Is it just me or does anyone else think that Trey  & Fab been looking more alike each time I see them? I know they’re cool and all but I swear they startin to look like brothers to me. No?

One of Usher’s better songs off his last album was “Something Special”. This song has a feel-good laid back old school feel that I enjoy and can listen to over and over. Usher’s vocals are classic as well. Enjoy!

Sex is everywhere. Whether it be in music videos, magazine ads or in a movie, sex appeal is seen and used everywhere daily. Could this mean it is normal and everyone should be doing it? When do we know we are ready to have sex? Because of the fact I have younger family who I feel I am a role model to, I sometimes wonder (let’s be honest) if the younger generation in my family are having sex and more importantly being protected. It is extremely important that we be comfortable to talk to one another about sex. It may not always be comfortable to some most people to discuss things we consider personal and private but realistically, everyone should have at least on person you can talk to because maybe they can relate or help/be helped by what you have to say.

Teenage pregnancy is nothing new. I’m not against it nor am I telling anyone to have  an abortion, not at all. Yet, I feel like with a little precaution you can avoid having a baby at a young age. There is nothing wrong with a having a child early, but  wouldn’t it be much easier if we were prepared? Think about the financial situation. “Do I have money to raise this child and still live my life the way I want?” Or perhaps the time. “When can I go to school, what if I don’t get enough sleep?” Most importantly, the baby must have support. The grandparent does not have to be a babysitter nor is there a guarentee the babymother/father will stay. These are all the questions that come to mind when I think of having a child at this time in my life. Although I’m not a teenager, I am definitely not equipt to be a father right now. There would be so many sacrifices.

There are plenty ways to prevent having a baby. There is birth control, condoms Nuvo rings and most popular “pulling out,” but nothing is 100%. Accidents can happen, anything is possible. This leads me to believe that no sex is the only safe sex. So when is the appropriate time to start having sex? When we’re 30 because we’re ready for kids? Or when we’re 16 because your curious and your man/woman wants to? Or do we compromise and do it somewhere in the middle where you WANT to have sex but do NOT want a baby BUT could live with it? I feel that you will KNOW when you’re ready and won’t regret it. It doesn’t depend on age as much as it does on your maturity level and where are you at in life. So my question to you is: how old is old enough to have sex?

Note: My intentions are not to offend anyone nor am I picking on anyone in particular.  I know plenty of people who had children at a young age and some are doing very well–and I applaud that. Once again, these are only my opinions to ask a question.
P.S. For y’all who are super sensitive, this is only the beginning. There are many things I want to discuss and I’d like to hear a biased response which isn’t hate-filled. Leave me a comment.

Hello, all. So I’ve decided I’ve missed blogging way too much. There’s so many things I want to say and write about, music I want you to hear and photos I want to share. Obviously, my day-to-day life is not always interesting but the thoughts in my head are too much for me to keep to myself haha.

I feel like I finally know what I want this site to be. I want this blog to be representative of me. I don’t wanna talk shit about crappy songs on the radio or which celebrity is fucking up the most. As entertaining as some of that shit is, it really isn’t important to me. I also considered many times changing the website name. Honestly, I feel like most people don’t understand what “Soul Explicit” is and I think it’s because people are sometimes too simple. Some can’t even SPELL explicit. My point is that I feel the name fits the site and my personality as well, therefore I am keeping it and you will LEARN what Soul Explicit is. I will be reconstructing the site, removing some material and changing a few things. Basically clearing out the unnecessary things. Also I plan on discussing important daily life experiences whether it be love, relationships and self-image. Really though, it doesn’t have to be that deep. I just want people to be open enough to hear my ideas but also realize everything I say is my opinion and no one has to believe or trust it. My mission in life is to become successful, appreciate everything I have and learn from the things I go through. I want everyone to feel me, even if you don’t agree with me.

I will be taking a break from the site and will hopefully return by the time summer is over.

Beyonce is back with ANOTHER music video. She doesn’t ever stop. This is one of my favorite tracks off the album, although I first heard the song nearly a year before the album came out when the track was titled “Beautiful Nightmare”on Concreteloop. The video is definitely… different. Not in a bad way though.

If you haven’t seen Drake’s latest video by now, you are late ass hell. But that’s fine. So, many people DESPISED the video and called it this and that and whatnot. First of all, Kanye West directed it, so if you feel that strongly send your hate mail via his blog. Some are saying that Kanye intentionally made the video that way it is to “sabotoge” Drake’s carreer and I can’t say I agree with that but it did pass my mind that this was a HUGE track provided with a very lackluster video. Although the video isn’t romantic or cute and sweet, it’s not THAT terrible. It was pretty funny during the dialouge scenes. As for exploitation of women, almost EVERY fuckin rap AND R&B video out now have half dressed women grinding. Why not playing basketball–then losing? HAHA!
